This course provides an overview of one-piece shower bases, glass shower enclosures, and accessories and includes discussions on methods of waterproofing shower floors, shower design, and installation and tiling guidelines for shower pans and accessories.

Learning Objectives

  • Summarize the pros and cons of differing shower waterproofing systems in terms of price level, aesthetic appeal, time and ease of installation, leakproofing, and other considerations.
  • List the benefits of one-piece, tileable shower products with an emphasis on preventing water intrusion and, therefore, mold and mildew issues.
  • List the various design elements that can be integrated to create a spa-like shower experience.
  • Summarize the installation and tiling guidelines that need to be followed to ensure a safe, watertight design of one-piece, tileable shower pans and accessories.
  • Specify shower pans and accessories to accomplish both the aesthetic and functional goals of the client.
