Description of ASTM-F3741 2024ASTM F3741-24Active Standard: Standard Specification for Hydrogel Projectile LaunchersASTM F3741Scope 1.1 This specification provides a standardized procedure for evaluating the performance and safety features of hydrogel projectile launchers. This specification does not cover product performance or quality, except as related to safety. Except for the labeling requirements pointing out the hazards and age range for which the product is intended, this specification has no requirements for those aspects of a hydrogel projectile launcher that present an inherent and recognized hazard as a function of the product. 1.2 Limitations—This specification does not cover the following types of products: Non-powder guns as specifically defined in Consumer Safety Specification F589 and which are commonly referred to as BB or pellet guns; low velocity projectile markers as specifically defined in Specification F2574; paintball markers as specifically defined in Specification F2272; air soft guns as specifically defined in Specification F2748; toy products as specifically defined in Consumer Safety Specification F963; and non-recreational air guns, for example, those used by law enforcement, scientific, military, industrial, or theatrical entities. 1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to inch pound units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
